Charlie

Good Morning, I was hoping you’d be able to add my success story to your web page, or would at least like to hear about and see how happy one of your kittens is in his new home. I adopted ‘Neroli’ (who I renamed Charlie) a couple of years ago from Kitty Connection to be a companion to my 5 year old (also orange) male cat named Petey. Charlie’s litter along with their mother had been dropped off at one of your adoption events by a family who could not speak English and did not know what to do with their cats. Charlie’s mom and all of his healthy siblings were adopted and he was left all alone as the runt of the litter.

He would not eat and was very, very skinny (as you can see in the BEFORE photo attached – I had to put that chair on my porch so that Charlie could get up on the window sill like his big brother). He would not play with other kittens at his foster home because he had no energy. When I took him home I had to keep him separate from Petey for a few weeks because he had a head cold and a stomach parasite. I kept him in my bathroom until his symptoms improved. I introduced him to Petey and they were immediately inseparable.

Even though he now had a friend, he still was unhealthy and would not eat unless I sat on the floor with him in the bathroom for sometimes hours at a time until he would take a few bites. (To this day, Charlie still follows me into the bathroom every time I go in there because I think it reminds him of when I used to sit with him and take care of him). I took him to my vet and she said that he really couldn’t afford to lose even another ounce. I finally found a type of wet food, after purchasing almost every single brand you can get, and he loved it for some reason (Newman’s Own) and started devouring it.

Getting him to start eating as well as giving him medication for his illnesses, he soon began putting on weight and becoming a playful kitten. He is now a healthy, active, and happy boy! He and Petey are like brothers – they wrestle around and play and nap together. As you can see in the attached AFTER picture (Charlie’s the one stretched out with the pink catnip ball), they are both totally spoiled rotten. I even had to get them a toy box to hold all of the toys their Grandma (my Mom) buys them.

We’ve just recently moved from our one floor apartment into a 2 story house, so Charlie and Petey are having a ball running and jumping up and down the stairs at all hours of the day and night. I would just like to say thank you to Kitty Connection for bringing my Charlie into my life and giving Petey a best friend. They are so happy together and they really are my world. My boyfriend and I adore them and can’t wait to get home from work everyday and play with them. What you guys do is awesome, and I am very thankful to have found you. Thank you guys so, so much!

Katie
