Lucas (Courtesy Post)

This orange ball of playfulness is Lucas, a little over a year old.  He’s a talkative little guy who enjoys cuddling with his foster mom and playing with anything he can get his paws on, which is not surprising because he still has lots of kitten energy.  Lucas will do best in a home where he’ll get lots of attention, play time, and won’t be left unaccompanied for long periods of time.  His playing style is a little too rough for very young children, but we think he would do well with older kids who know how to treat cats respectfully. Lucas’s play drive is very high, and he has been known to treat feet as toys; the solution to this is to give him more play time that involves chasing a laser dot, followed by a toy at the end of a string– something he can catch– followed by feeding.  (Doing this about 45 minutes before going to sleep is also generally a good way to prevent nocturnal activity.)  We have not observed him with dogs or other cats, but another sufficiently energetic four-legged playmate might be a good idea.

He would do best with an adopter who is experienced with cats, and who can be patient enough to help him adjust to his new home, as it took him about two weeks to adjust to his foster home. Advice will be provided for this.

He has:
– been neutered
– been given rabies and distemper vaccinations
– tested negative for FeLV and FIV.-been treated for fleas and worms

His adopter will receive his medical records. There is a simple adoption process and an adoption fee so we can continue to help cats in need. He’s being fostered in Somerville.

Cats can live up to 20 years, so give careful thought to the changes that are likely to occur in your life during that time. If you can and will provide a safe, loving home for life, then respond to RoyCBarrows@gmail.com. Please include your phone number for a faster response and say a little about yourself and the home you would provide for them as we try to match people with the right cats.
