Texas (Courtesy Post)

Meet Texas! This really SWEET dog is an absolute love bug! He needs a new home after being abandoned.  Affectionately called Tex, this gentle boy is great with both the women and men he sees daily and just wants a person to love and cuddle with. He asks for little else.

Texas is a 4-year old, 64-pound neutered American Staffordshire Terrier who has a handsome brindle coat. Unfortunately this nice boy has severe separation anxiety. He was very fearful when he first arrived at the pound, but settled down once he became familiar with the people and the environment. He loves being with the officers but they are not able to be with him all the time. When inside his kennel, he is very unhappy being separated from human contact.

Texas’ adoption hero must stay with him all day long as much as possible in the beginning days and weeks until he feels safe and at home. He still has fear issues and needs confidence-building. He’s leery of some men and doesn’t like baseball caps. He would likely be destructive and try to get through a crate if left alone. This would not only cause emotional distress, but he could also harm himself.

Texas does have a history of one bite, but it was situational, meaning he was put into a situation by the previous owner that he was unable to get away from. Medical attention was not needed and there was no puncture wound. While at the pound for one month so far, he’s been a wonderful boy who embodies goodness.

Are you retired or do you work from home? Do you love having a canine companion? Are you like Texas and have a hard time being alone? Tex’s ideal home is with one or two adults in a quiet home. No children and no other pets.
