My name is Abby and I am a 5 year old, pure-bred Persian with a “dilute-tortoise-shell” color of coat. I originally belonged to a breeder who had passed away unexpectedly. Me and the other Persians had been neglected for some time before being rescued. I am growing my coat out after having been shaved because my fur was all matted and I am gaining weight. I am fixed so no more kittens for me! I like to play with wand and string toys and will tell to my foster mom when I think it’s time to play. I also like to follow her around the house and I get along with most of her resident cats except one…and she’s another “tortie”. (Torties can be a little temperamental sometimes!) And..I like to sleep in shoe-boxes!
I need a Persian “experienced-only” type of adopter because my breed has some special needs and I am not for the first time cat adopter. Since I have long, thick dense fur that I cannot effectively keep clean, I need regular grooming to prevent matting. To keep my fur in its best condition, I must be bathed regularly, dried carefully afterwards, and brushed thoroughly every day. An alternative is to shave my coat which would make me look like a lion! My eyes require regular cleaning to prevent crust buildup and tear staining (my eyes run).
