Mishpy was struck by a car in front of a house and ran off injured. The people who witnessed it thought he died, but he returned 10 days later in very rough shape. His jaw is broken in several places and he has a raging infection in his mouth. It's a complete miracle that he's alive and he even ate on his own! Kitty Connection brought him to Dr. Olga and Dr. Olga performed surgery by wiring his jaw shut and inserting a feeding tube. His prognosis is good but he may need orthopedic surgery.
This cat truly has nine lives and the will to survive! Mishpy is being taken care of by a wonderful foster home that is attending to his every need. Mishpy has a Guardian Angel named Romeo watching over him :)
Mishpy's vet bills are topping $700 and more if he needs orthopedic surgery. Would you please donate to Mishpy's medical bills? Thank you. The photo at the right shows Mishpy relaxing with his canine friend after his surgery. Please help him return to his happy state by donating towards his vet bill. Thank you.
Help with Lillian's Medical Costs
Lillian was found wandering the streets of Springfield, Ma, and
was brought to a shelter by a very kind woman. Lillian was most likely a breeding
dog who was dumped on the side of the road when she wasn't able to breed
anymore. Kitty Connection took Lillian from the shelter and placed her in a
wonderful foster home where she can begin to get better and finally enjoy a
happy life. Lillian is in very poor
shape but given all that she's been through, she is an absolute sweetheart and
so very gentle. We are asking for donations to help fund Lillian’s medical
care. She has extreme allergies and much of her fur is gone from her stomach,
her back and all her legs. She is so itchy that she bites at her red raw skin
until she bleeds. She has a 3/6 heart murmur, severe conjunctivitis, a major
ear infection and she needs to be spayed. Any donation amount would be greatly
appreciated to help defray some of her medical costs. Thank you!!!!
Help with Jezebel's Medical Costs
My name is Jezebel and I am a beautiful 1 year old
female Siamese. I was rescued by a very kind woman who contacted Kitty Connection
to help me. My name is Jezebel and I am a beautiful 1 year old
female Siamese. I was rescued by a very kind woman who contacted Kitty Connection
to help me. I suffered for a very long time outside and was attacked by many
neighborhood cats leaving me with many bite wounds and, almost, my will to
live. I thank God I was rescued because I didn't have much fight left in me and
the infections were getting worse. Because of my severe wounds, my medical care
is very expensive. If you could donate toward me, it would help me get better.
As you can see by my pictures, I am in rough shape but I am getting better each
day. Thank you. Love, Jezebel
Help with Kevin's Medical Costs
Dear Friends, I had my appointment at the vet on January 6 and the doctor said that I did not need a cat scan after all.The doctor sedated me and checked my mouth and throat and saw that I have severe stomatitis (an inflammation of the mucous lining of any of the structures in the mouth, which may involve the cheeks, gums, tongue, lips, throat, and roof or floor of the mouth).I also have gingivitis, which is a general term for gingival diseases affecting the gingiva (gums). As generally used, the term gingivitis refers to gingival inflammation induced by bacterial biofilms (also called plaque) adherent to tooth surfaces.I also have a big ulcer behind my last back molar and that is also causing me severe pain when I eat.The doctor gave me an antibiotic shot that will last for 2 months and it will take care of any bacteria build up as well as the ulcer, and she also gave me pain medication so I can eat.She also did a biopsy on the ulcer and to my and everyone's delight, it came back negative for cancer! So far, I am doing well as the pain is starting to ease and I don't scream in agony anymore when I eat.The next step in my recovery will most likely be the extraction of all my teeth. The doctor says that with tooth extraction, my symptoms will probably disappear.Because I have FIV, my immune system isn't fighting my infections.I am not too scared though as the doctor told me not to worry! Many cats go through this procedure and they can eat, drink and live a very normal life.Thank you to all of you for rooting for me and for the donations to help me get better!Stay tuned for updates when my human friends decide when to send me in for my teeth to be pulled. If you can donate toward these medical costs, you will make me very happy! xo,Kevin

Rusty - No energy from high fever
Help with Rusty's Medical Costs!
It's hard to believe by looking at Rusty in the second photo that he has feline leukemia, but that's the nature of feline leukemia (FeLV). Many days can be good for Rusty, but then the virus can attack the system seemingly out of nowhere, requiring vet visits, medications and medical procedures. But Rusty is one of the lucky ones...he has a foster mom who isn't giving up on him, but who instead wants to give him a quality life in spite of his illness. There is a price to pay, though, for giving Rusty a good life, and that is ongoing medical bills. If you would like to donate toward Rusty's medical bills, please visit our Donations page where you can pay through PayPal, or you can send a check payable to Kitty Connection at 6 Cudworth Street, Medford, MA 02155, and mark that it is to go toward Rusty's medical bills. Thank you for your help!

January 2009 Update on Rusty from Rusty's Caretaker
Rusty has continued to thrive and has very much become part of the family. He loves to cuddle with my husband and often immobilizes him by snuggling up and falling asleep on top of him. My mom occasionally babysits him and refers to him as her grandcat. Our friends adore him and bring him treats when they visit. He is so social and walks straight up to new people who come over and meows hello and climbs onto their laps. He wakes me up every morning by knocking things off shelves and then just looks at me defiantly. He has a squeaky meow, but he never meows if he wants attention, only when he wants to talk (like when we're already looking at him). Mostly he does this purr/chirrup sound a lot, and it's adorable. He loves his Cat Dancer so much and will pick it up with his mouth and drag it onto our laps and then stare up at us while batting it with his paws, trying to make it obvious to us dimwitted humans that he wants us to play with it/him. The only thing he loves more than his Cat Dancer is fresh kale; whenever I buy it, he'll tear through my grocery bags, grab a hunk of it in his mouth, and run off to eat it. He'll even jump into the fridge if he sees kale in there.
Medically, he's been pretty stable. He gets lysine twice a day and interferon daily for 7 days on, 7 days off (thanks to Kitty Connections funds). He was healthy all summer (under the care of good friends of ours who subletted our apt only on the condition that they could take care of Rusty), and then in September I noticed that he was breathing rapidly. Thanks to Kitty Connections donations, he was able to get checked out right away by Dr. Ulrich at Huron, and he was determined not to have any acute problems. His breathing has continued to be about the same, pretty rapid even without exertion, most likely due to low level anemia or respiratory function decrease due to FeLV. He's still very active, but he does seem to get tired more quickly than he used to. He's been vomiting at least once a day for the past few months (no discoloration or worms or anything abnormal), and it's not associated with when he eats, or nervousness, or anything. His gums do look pretty bad all the time (very inflamed and red), and the vet noted that this is typical for an FeLV cat, and that I shouldn't change his food (because it has nothing to do with FeLV-associated gingivitis) or clean his teeth (that will just hurt him more). Rusty still loves crunchy treats, so hopefully that means he's not in too much pain. He eats and drinks well, uses his litter box like a pro, and maintains a good weight (look at that belly!).
