In Memory of Blake, January 2011

Blake was a hurricane Katrina victim. He was brought to MA when many of the cats were transported to various rescues. Months later, many of the groups still had a lot of cats and Kitty Connection happened to meet one of those organizations. They asked if KC could help find homes for any of the cats and Blake, who was called Smokey at the time, came to Kitty Connection to find a forever home. Unfortunately, his home wasn’t a forever home. His owner’s girlfriend moved in and Blake didn’t get along with her cat. Since Blake had an alpha male personality, his owner contacted Kitty Connection to take him back. The ordeal was devastating for Blake. He was taken to the vet for evaluation and put on Prozac, which slowly helped his stress. Sadly again, his foster home relocated because they were in the service and once again Blake was moved only to have to adjust once again to the stress of a new foster home. Blake was in Karen’s care for the last few days of his life. He suffered much heartache and tragedy in his life that no cat should have to endure. On January 6, 2011, Blake made his final move over the rainbow bridge. We will never know the reasons why Blake died in his sleep but our guess is that he died from a broken heart. Blake, my final words to you were, “No one can ever hurt you again.” May he rest in peace and until we meet again….Karen
